DUBAI: Sameen Rana, the manager and COO of PSL team Lahore Qalandars, said that Haris Rauf’s performance against Karachi Kings made Saturday’s victory an emotional one for the Qalandars.
Rana told Geo that Rauf is a product of the Qalandars player development programme and he was delighted to see a player coming from PDP and winning matches for the team.
“This is real success of our player development programme,” Sameen Rana said.
“We were very emotional after the win, it’s not that we have won the World Cup or PSL but we were happy and excited that our player development programme made all of us proud today.”
Sameen said there was lot of hard work involved in the development of Haris Rauf as a match winner.
He also credited the Qalandars management for continuing with PDP despite criticism.
“No doubt that we worked really hard on our player development programme. And more than the hard work it was our belief that encouraged us to keep working despite all the criticism,” he said.
“I think Aaqib Javed, Atif Rana and Fawad Rana deserve credit for persisting with PDP despite all the criticism towards the programme and now we have reaped the fruit,” he added.
Replying to a question, Sameen said that Lahore Qalandars have produced a bowler who will become an asset for Pakistan in future.
He also added that it’s now up to Haris to continue with what he showed on Saturday.
“Haris must carry on with the same performance after this breakthrough. You can always get an initial victory but the key is to be consistent. Haris is a good boy and I’m sure he will do that. He has to win a lot of games for us.”
